The Edge of Europe The Capelinhos Lighthouse is the west-most point in Europe, located on Faial Island in the Azores. Back in 1957, a huge volcanic eruption hit the area, partially covering the lighthouse and creating this otherworldly landscape. Add some moldy skies and we ended up with one of my favorite locations during our trip to the Azores.
