ECO PROBLEMS! Freshman Uma Rahman works on her 2D painting for her Design I final. The final projects for the 3D and 2D classes had to be related, with the 2D final needing to build off of the 3D final. Rahman was inspired by the effects of overfishing on the environment and underwater habitats.
“At first, I was having troubles with how to relate my 2D piece with my 3D piece, without just literally painting my sculpture.” Rahman said, “but I decided on using the same aquatic imagery and using the same fishing net with both pieces.”
Rahman’s 3D piece hones in on the idea of the specifically caught animal and is of a fish tail made out of shells but caught in fishing net.
