🎯 Did you know that when you recycle a can in Sweden, you’re not just reducing waste? You can also help grow forests! 🌳 ♻️ Sweden boasts one of the world’s highest recycling rates on bottles and cans. The so-called pant system gives money back when you recycle and is a part of Swedish everyday life. (So much so that it even has its own verb – to ’panta’!) According to the most recent statistics, 88.5% of cans and bottles were returned in 2023. To further boost recycling, the pant deposit amount will be raised in 2025 to encourage even more returns   🌱 Many Swedes choose to donate their ’pantpengar’ (deposit refunds) to organisations like Vi Agroforestry, which plants trees in East Africa to combat desertification, climate change and improve livelihoods.
