Goodbye sun! The polar night has officially descended on the very north of Sweden! 🌙   For nearly 25 days in December and January, the sun remains below the horizon in Sweden’s northernmost city of Kiruna. 😯 But don’t be fooled – it’s not as dark as it seems. We sometimes refer to it as the Arctic light.   Even when there’s no sunlight during the day, the snow reflects blue light, creating a light phenomenon called Kaamos. ❄ North, the sky looks blue. South, there is a blush along the horizon, coloured by the sun.   In essence, midwinter in the north is not all darkness – it’s just that different times of the year bring different types of light.   Photos and video shots: 1: Anders Klapp/imagebank.sweden.se 2–8: Moa StrĂ„lberg/Kiruna kommun 9: Fredrik Larsson/imagebank.sweden.se   Music Sweden.se #Sweden #Kiruna #arcticcircle #polarnight #kaamos
