In Sweden, the Right of Public Access – or ’allemansrätten’ – means you can go camping, swimming, kayaking and canoeing pretty much anywhere, as long as you respect nature and private dwellings. This right applies on land as well as on the water! 🚣‍ Autumn is a beautiful time to go paddling! Here are some dos and don’ts from Svenska Kanotförbundet (the Swedish canoeing society)👇 🏕️ If you want to pitch your tent on an island where someone lives, ask the landowner for permission – especially if you want to stay for more than one night. 🗑️ Leave no trace behind! Throw all rubbish in a bin or take it away with you. It’s best not to leave bags near the bin, because animals can scatter the rubbish or hurt themselves. 🦆Leave wild birds and animals alone, no matter how much you want to photograph them or get a closer look.
