In recognition of
#PoliceWeek - I sat down with some friends to write one of the most important songs of my life. It played as the families of fallen officers lit up Washington DC by candlelight in remembrance of their loved ones. Police work isn’t easy. If it were, everybody would do it. It’s often said that being a police officer is a calling. And it must be. Because you’d have to be out of your mind to put on a uniform everyday to go try and take care of someone else’s problems when you’ve got problems of your own. And sometimes, you just don’t make it home. It is a selfless sacrifice and way too often a thankless job. These men and women are husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, family and friends and it pains me to see someone sit on their couch and yell about how they could do a better job when the reality is that nobody ever calls 911 when things are going great or more so, to offer some constructive criticism.
