It is a rare opportunity to coach a Division I team. It is even more rare to play a sport professionally. To do both at the same time is simply unheard of.
Meet Amber Fiser. She is not only an assistant coach for the UNF Softball team, but she also plays softball professionally for the Oklahoma City Spark.
Fiser had a decorated college softball career at the University of Minnesota. As a Gopher, she was an All-American, the Big 10 Pitcher of the Year, and led the team to its first Women’s College World Series.
Then, she headed down south to be a graduate assistant coach at the University of Missouri, while also earning her master’s degree.
After two years, she was hired for her first full-time coaching gig as the pitching coach at UNF in the summer of 2023. She landed this job while simultaneously playing professional softball in Oxford, Alabama for the Smash It Sports Vipers.
