Last month, American Indian Dancers and Native drum groups gathered at Penn State for the 19th Annual Traditional American Indian Powwow. Powwows are celebrations of community and culture, featuring American Indian drum and dance, as well as vendors offering Native-made arts. The dance and dress styles of the contemporary powwow have origins from the Northern and Southern Plains peoples, but have spread and adapted to the changes within Indian cultures, powerfully symbolizing both tribally-specific and American Indian identity. #WeAre
