alisaxayalith grew up in New Zealand, as the daughter of Laotian refugees. She recalls gravitating toward music at an early age to find some solace within a difficult family dynamic. “I was like a moth to a flame,” she says and went on to attend a music college where in 2008 she met the bandmates which eventually formed The Naked and Famous. Between five albums and over 850 shows with the band, Xayalith established a new home as a musician in LA. She remarked that her father “doesn’t understand it at all. but his eyes gleamed on a facetime call when he heard my songs playing on music television in Australia” Xayalith’s life story is a major motivation to continue pursuing music with a new solo project. “We have stories to tell and hardships to overcome.
