Emmy Winner. History has been made. The Hidden Sport, a short documentary produced by Southern University students about the world-renowned Southern University Human Jukebox, has officially earned an Emmy Award. Loren Sullivan, Verbon Muhammad, Sydney Cuillier, Ashley Lovelace, and Eric White, known as The Dream Team, took home the prestigious Emmy for their inspiring storytelling that celebrates the legacy of the Human Jukebox and its cultural impact on sports and athletics at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Their work proves what we’ve always known: band is a sport. It takes grit, endurance, passion, and precision. These students captured what it means to be part of one of the most iconic musical institutions in the world, and in doing so, made history.
