Powwow season is officially here! 💥 And there’s no better place to kick it off than at the 20th annual Manito Ahbee Festival in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
One of the largest Indigenous cultural gatherings in the world, Manito Ahbee brings together over 25,000 people from across Turtle Island to celebrate music, art, food, fashion, business, and powwow excellence — all on the ancestral homelands of the Anishinaabek, Nehiyaw, Anishininew, Dakota, Denesuline, Inuit, and Red River Métis. 🌎
Over the next three days, expect a red carpet, the Red Road Fashion Showcase, Pow Wow Pitch competition, basketball, hockey & fastpitch tournaments, and so much more.
This year’s celebration kicks off TODAY with NextGEN — a full day of youth empowerment, community dialogue, music, and mentorship for the next generation of changemakers.
Whether you’re local or flying in, Manito Ahbee is a heartbeat you can feel from miles away. For many, this is how summer starts across NDN Country.
