SWAIA goes global for their 2nd Native Fashion Week. 🌎 In a cross-continental collaboration, Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week (vancouverindigenousfashionweek) and SWAIA Native Fashion Week (swaianativefashion) teamed up in Santa Fe — bringing the best of the North and South in an ambitious celebration of Turtle Island. Before each showing, VIFW’s leadership stood proudly alongside SWAIA, the century-old arts institution known for platforming Native arts and culture. “Where the North meets the South,” echoed VIFW GM, Caroline Phelps, who’s presence was felt all week. The creative direction to foster this marriage was meaningfully executed, bridging a gap of more than 1,500 miles… or 2,520 kilometres 😉 It was a symbolic gesture of Native sovereignty and solidarity across Turtle Island, even if only for one unforgettable weekend. 🤝 Additionally, this is what makes fashion more than fabric.
