Mashkode Bizhiki'ikwe has her name back. ❤️‍🩹 After years of investigation, Winnipeg RCMP and Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew (wabber) gathered yesterday to reveal that "Buffalo Woman," the previously unidentified victim of serial killer Jeremy Skibicki, has been identified by police as Mashkode Bizhiki'ikwe, also known as Ashlee Shingoose, from St. Theresa Point Anisininew Nation. Anishinaabe Premier Kinew vowed to search Brady Road Landfill for Shingoose’s remains. Shingoose’s parents were in attendance and requested a song from Premier Kinew. He later shared on social media: "Ashlee Shingoose’s father asked me to sing a song for their family. I was honoured to share Quannah’s song for them," Wab Kinew wrote.
