PIÑATA PROS: Vaughn Shields and Jasmine Holcomb hold their well-deserved piñata, as their Spanish 1 class prepares for its piñata party. Both Shields and Holcomb were voted to be their class’s king and queen, and then they raised money for McCallum’s Ballet Folklorico. The winners were announced at the Cinco de Mayo showcase, and both winners were from Telvi Altamriano’s seventh-period class. “I wanted to do this to support Senora A” Shields said. “ I wanted to help her make other people happy. The best part was being with my classmates, and being so happy.” The fundraiser was a big success, with the kings and queens all raising a lot of money. “I liked how this event helped me get more involved with this culture,” Holcomb said. “I am happy it was so successful because I really want to make Senora A happy.” Thanks to its hard work, the seventh-period class got a piñata party, where they sang the piñata song in Spanish. “I found the piñata party really, really fun,” Holcomb said...
