Former
#Philadelphia Phillies infielder Jean Segura announced his retirement Wednesday after 12 years in MLB with six teams, including four years with the Phillies.
Born in the Dominican Republic, he began his major league career in 2012 playing one game for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim before he was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers. A few years later with the Diamondbacks, Segura led the National League in hits with 203.
Segura arrived in Philadelphia in 2018 via a trade with the Seattle Mariners that sent Carlos Santana and J.P. Crawford out west. He played four seasons for the Phils from 2019-2022, helping the team win the National League pennant in 2022. He batted .281 as a Phillie and finished his MLB career with 1,545 hits, 513 RBIs, 110 homers and 211 stolen bases in 1,413 games.
