It’s official – Tula-Tu is Portland’s sweetheart. Sure, Tula-Tu has been a crowd favorite since the day she was born. She’s even been mentioned on national TV. But on Thursday, she earned what is perhaps Portland’s highest honor: She was named the Grand Marshal of the Rose Festival’s Grand Floral Parade. When the Rose Festival announced on Wednesday that it would reveal the next Grand Marshal at the Oregon Zoo, many in The Oregonian/OregonLive newsroom thought the Grand Marshal would be Tula-Tu, though some held out hope for orangutan Jolene.
