Heavyweight final on March 22, 2025 at the Wells Fargo Arena in Philadelphia, PA. Hendrickson is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and required special permission to fulfill his last year of remaining NCAA competition eligibility at Oklahoma State. Due to a quirk in how the NCAA handled eligibility during COVID, Hendrickson had one year remaining to compete. However, the military academies don't permiss students to be there for five years. So he had to seek another opportunity. While Hendrickson is a U23 freestyle world champion himself, Steveson is often in the debate of greatest college wrestler of all time, and many considered his victory here a foregone conclusion.
