March is Women's History Month, and we're celebrating the contributions of women's organizations in the Fine Arts Building's history! Groups like the Illinois Equal Suffrage Association and the Chicago Women's Club fought for women's right to vote throughout the 1910s, gaining suffrage in Illinois in 1913 and national suffrage with the 19th amendment in 1919. Both organizations held offices on the 9th floor of the Fine Arts Building during this time and shared many members. Pictured in this photo from 1910 from left to right are IESA members Belle Squire, Grace Wilbur Trout, Grace Nichols, and Ella Stewart.
