This month, we’ve been celebrating the ways our programs leave a lasting, compassionate impact on caregivers in our community. The following is a story of how our Threadz program came through at a critical time to support not just a student, but his family, too. A father recently came to one of our Threadz locations with his son who attends a local middle school, in search of clothes for his great-grandmother’s funeral. His son, who navigates the world with unique challenges, needed to feel at ease and comfortable on such an important day. Because this father knew about Threadz, we were able to help them put together a full outfit – dress shirt, tie, jacket, pants, and shoes. When we offered a hoodie to keep him warm afterward, his son’s face lit up with pure joy. That moment reminded us: caregiving isn’t just about love – it’s about showing up.
