Vancouver’s PWHL era is officially underway.
On May 23,
@thepwhlofficial named Cara Gardner Morey as the first General Manager of
@pwhl__vancouver. A former head coach at
@princetonwhockey, Gardner Morey brings a legacy of winning, including an ECAC title, Ivy League championship, and the development of stars like Sarah Fillier and Claire Thompson.
“Cara brings exceptional experience, a deep understanding of player development, and an unwavering passion for women’s sports,” said Jayna Hefford, PWHL EVP of Hockey Operations.
Gardner Morey’s resume spans the NCAA, Team Canada, and even NHL development camps. A two-sport All-American and former pro player herself, she’s now set to shape Vancouver’s roster ahead of the 2025–26 season.
“I can’t wait to get started,” she said. “Let’s build something incredible together, Vancouver.”
The team’s exclusive five-day signing window opens June 4, followed by the Expansion Draft on June 9.
