Backpacking trip in the books for the DJDS Wilderness Trailblazers club! A small but mighty group of high schoolers, led by Ms. Alix, headed backcountry for two nights of camping and hiking in Pike National Forest, covering 7.5 miles on the Colorado Trail. Our steadfast students set up camp, chopped wood, filtered water, made camp meals, built warm fires, and left no trace besides all the amazing memories. It was a wonderful trip made possible with teamwork, planning, and excitement for new experiences in new terrain. Chilly nights, shooting stars, contemptuous UNO games, gorgeous views and climbing on rocks, were all on the agenda.
