If you’re not part of this organization, you might not know that Marty would read us articles, texts, emails, and letters about/to/from his former players. It would seem like he “put us on blast” but it was truly so we could learn in the most real way possible. Every day of being on his team was like being in a group lesson of life. We learned from each others mistakes, accomplishments, setbacks, and triumphs. It was cool. He put an emphasis on being transparent with the “whys.” Becoming great, being great, shouldn’t be a mystery. Believing in yourself matters. If you hit, you play. Do what you say you’ll do. As we grow up, there seems to be a lot out of our control, a lot of unknowns. With Marty, you always know what you get and that’s something that so matches with who I am and who I want to be.
