PRACTICE MAKES PERFORMANCE: Senior piano major Maverick Palacios, shown here with fellow senior pianist Greta Carlson, performs at the ensemble piano recital on Tuesday May 20. Palacios says that the recital went very well and that they played relatively cleanly. “I would say [the recital] went better than the past recitals.” said Palacios, who played the piano piece, “The Serpent’s Kiss” by Bolocom, along with piano student Nathan Howard. The sheet music for the song was 19 pages long, but despite its complexity, Palacios said they really enjoyed playing the piece. He added that his favorite part about piano is performance not practice. He said however that the joy of live performance makes the long hours of pratice worth it. Next year, Palacios plans on attending Trinity University where he will minor in piano.
