April is Premenstrual Disorders Awareness Month ✨ As someone who lives with PMDD, this month is super important to me. I’ve been experiencing PMDD symptoms throughout college and had it the most severe in 2021. I finally got diagnosed days before the new year and started zoloft the same day. Ever since, I have healed so much and finally feel like myself on a daily basis again. My periods are so much more manageable now.
I encourage you all to read this and spread awareness — most people think “period depression” is normal. People with PMDD are also misdiagnosed with conditions like bipolar.
To anyone who suspects they have PMDD or PME after reading: please talk to a professional (either a psychiatrist or gynocologist). You deserve to advocate for your health.
To everyone a part of the PMDD/PME community: there is hope. This disorder doesn’t define you, and you are deserving of love, support, and compassion even on your worst PMDD days.
