Matier glacier (accessed through the Joffre Lakes trail) Round 1 Biggest 🏆 Wedgemount Round 2 Easiest route 🏆 Matier Round 3 Best view 🏆 Wedgemount (SUCH a tough call but I am a sucker for the alpine view) Round 4 Freshest ice 🏆 Matier Round 5 Which was I most proud of? 🏆 Wedgemount (that route was CHALLENGING, and my best friend and I mapped it ourselves) Hiking to glaciers seems to be becoming more accessible as they recede, which is a bitter sweet feeling. I love that I can reach them through genuinely reasonable hikes/scrambles but it saddens me to think of how big they once were 😔 Even looking at photos of Wedgemount from a year or two ago the glacier reached the upper lake, of which it now sits many many metres higher.
