In September, BART and the city of Berkeley reached an agreement in which the city gave up air rights over the 4.4-acre West Lot of the Ashby BART station. In exchange, BART revived the city’s ownership of its 1.9-acre East Lot. The city also contributed $26.5 million toward affordable housing at Ashby station, including $18.5 million for the Ashby West Lot, according to a BART press release.
Following the agreement, BART hosted a public forum for the community to hear from the two prospective developers: Ashby BART Strategic Alliance, comprised of Affirmed Housing Group, Inc. and Community Housing Development Corporation of North Richmond, or CHDC; and Adeline Alliance Partners, comprised of The Pacific Companies, Strategic Urban Development Alliance LLC, or SUDA, and Resources for Community Development.
