Emily Pike will not be forgotten. ❤️‍🩹 Last week, Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs (govhobbs) officially signed “Emily’s Law” — a bill that establishes Turquoise Alerts, a new statewide system activated when Indigenous people go missing. 🚨📲 The law is named in memory of Emily Pike, a 15-year-old San Carlos Apache teen who was tragically killed earlier this year after running away from a group home in Mesa. Her death reignited national conversations about the failures of the current system and the disproportionate risks Indigenous youth face, especially while in state care. The bill signing comes as the U.S. Department of Justice deploys additional resources to Indian Country to address the crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous people. Do you believe this system will help protect our most vulnerable? Does your state have an #MMIP alert system?! 💭⤵️ ✍️: Debra Utacia Krol (azcentral) 📸: Cheryl Evans / The Republic #EmilyPike #MMIW #MMIWG #Arizona #TurquoiseAlert
