The Alabama 911 Board has a feature called Text to 911 that allows people in Alabama to text 911 in case of an emergency.
The service was originally for people with certain disabilities, but has now been offered to everyone in Alabama.
Its most effective use is for situations where the person cannot physically speak or if a suspect is in close proximity to the person.
