The most exciting Sundays for me growing up were when my momma had enough to pay her tithes, & give me a whole $1 to put into the offering plate. It was always so cool to be able to fold it up as I walked to the front of the church & drop it in. I also knew she didn’t have it every week. It’s why the Marvin Sapp “Close the door” collection deal was crazy to me. Although the videos after were hilarious. I mean I could’ve been a star giver that day. I would’ve been one of the pulpit pastors who dropped a Hundo, but I’m blessed to do that. Not everyone is. Today as you give whether in church or online remember the cheerful giver in Corinthians 9:7, & give with a grateful heart. Think of the poor widow in Mark & Luke who gave her very last. She sacrificed far more than the rich. Finally, the Good Samaritan who helped an enemy even as a priest & Levite passed on their route. Giving extends far beyond your tithes & offering.
