For this week's #GoingThroughIt, emilybooksgould responds to a letter writer whose dad keeps responding to "Dad" when it's coming from his grandson: "I understand how uncomfortable it feels to have your dad answer to your son saying “Dada” or “dat.” But I also think the evidence strongly points in the direction of this phenomenon being an unconscious slip on your dad’s part rather than anything more meaningful. Hearing him answer to “Dada” feels incredibly wrong to you, but it’s not something your dad is even aware of.
