The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) is adjusting how athletes will place in this weekend's state Track and Field championships at Buchanan High School following controversy surrounding a transgender athlete who is set to compete.
Clovis Mayor Pro Tem Diane Pearce highlighted the issue of a trans athlete competing, stating on social media, "A biological male will be competing against our girls and he is favored to win the state title in at least one event."
Pearce argued that this participation violates an executive order issued by President Donald Trump on Feb. 5, which aimed to keep men out of women's sports.
