Austin Prep is taking meaningful steps to expand a music program that reflects not only the richness of our Catholic faith and Augustinian values, but also the spirit of community, excellence, and innovation that defines our campus culture. As we honor past traditions and cultivate new ones, Austin Prep has been incorporating Gregorian chant in our liturgies. Chant is one of the Church’s most ancient and beautiful forms of prayer through music. Thanks to the new “Let’s Sing with the Pope” initiative hosted by Dominican Father Robert Mehlhart, President of the Pontificio Istituto di Musica Sacra, people around the world are being encouraged and supported in rediscovering this timeless form of sacred music. While chant may be new to many of our students and families, it offers a powerful and accessible way to help everyone enter more deeply into the prayer of the Mass.
