Hear from Park Ambassador, Michelle, all about Water Works Park Pavilion and how Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board has worked to revitalize and reimagine the riverfront in this space! From an old Sawmill, to a 1960s restaurant, to laying dormant for 20 years, this site was completed and constructed into Water Works Park and Pavillion at Mill Ruins Park! Just North of the Stone Arch Bride, this park now houses music in the amphitheater, games, rain gardens, a natural playground, and of course, our restaurant partner Owamni by the Sioux Chef. People have gathered at Owámniiyomni (St. Anthony Falls) for thousands of years. It was a prime place for encampments by the Dakhóta, Ho-Chunk, and Ojibwe due to the proximity to a place of spiritual power, traditional routes, and locations for harvesting foods such as maple sugar and cranberries.
