“Be prepared to take time for your mental health! Many of us know that long travel days and busy competitions can take a toll on our body, so we take extra good care of it (rest, hydration, stretching, etc). Our minds also play a huge role in athletic performance, so we must take extra good care of them! Here are some of my mental health packing essentials:
Journal! (even though it takes up space, I promise it’s worth it)
Books (I’m Christian so I always bring my travel-sized bible, staying connected with who you are off of the ice will improve your performance on the ice)
Fav stuffed animal or blanket (It may seem silly, but I promise the majority of my team either brings a squishmallow or weighted stuffed animal to every competition. Having a comfort item like this can help you feel more at home even when you’re far away.)
