May is Wildfire Awareness Month 🔥🌿 Did you know that Girl Scouts San Diego is actively protecting over 672 acres of forested land—more than six times the size of the San Diego Zoo—thanks to a $759,000+ grant from the San Diego River Conservancy? Through this multi-year partnership, we’re: 🌲 Clearing wildfire-prone vegetation using air curtain burners—GSSD is the first non-government organization in San Diego County to do so! 🌱 Restoring native ecosystems with a new tree nursery growing local species like Coulter and Sugar Pines. 💧 Boosting emergency readiness with a new generator to ensure clean water access during power outages. Together, we’re setting an example for sustainable land stewardship and inspiring thousands of Girl Scouts and volunteers to be environmental changemakers.
