II Eight also placed 2nd in Heat 2 to qualify for the A/B semifinal. Seeded 10th and pulled ahead of the 7th seed (Brown) and also 2.1 seconds back of the 2nd seed (Washington). The 17th seeded four made a great bid for a qualifying spot in a fast heat and finished 4th for a place in the C/D semifinal.
