Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is passed from parent to baby in about 8 out of every 100 affected pregnancies and can cause liver disease.
With medication, almost all children with hepatitis C can be cured. However, researchers at BMC, led by Dr. Rachel Epstein, found that only 1 in 3 children with HCV in a large national study were connected to medical care, and just 1 in 8 received treatment.
