Just attended the NOAA 2025 Hurricane Season Press Conference in Gretna — The press conference started by acknowledging, remembering that this is the 20 year anniversary of Katrina. A grim reminder of the need for preparedness before the next storm strikes. The Atlantic 2025 Hurricane Season is projected to be above average. 13-19 Named Storms, 6-10 Hurricanes, 3-5 Major Hurricanes. It only takes one to make an active season for you. NOAA’s National Weather Service Director Ken Graham said, “Remember, there’s no such thing as ‘Just A Category ___’ Storm.” Every single storm brings different threats with rip currents, inland flooding, and storm surge being the biggest killers in storms. The biggest thing you can do before hurricane season is Know YOUR Risk! Evaluate where you live, how flood vulnerable you are, how neweby trees are to your home, what supplies you can stock up on beforehand. #hurricaneseason #hurricane #katrinaanniversary #noaa #nationalhurricanecenter
