I went to a luncheon with american_heart and left not just inspired, but equipped. One of the most crucial parts of the day was learning chest compression CPR and how to use an AED (a defibrillator that can literally shock a heart back into rhythm).
I learned a few things I need to work on…my chest compressions were a little fast which wouldn’t allow enough oxygen to replenish before pumping through the body. Some good song beats are Pink Pony Ckub, Staying Alive, 22 and so many more. I also learned I need to feel more comfortable being assertive should anything happen.
When someone goes into sudden cardiac arrest, every second matters. Immediate chest compressions help push oxygen through the blood to the brain and vital organs, reducing the risk of brain damage—and increasing the chances of survival.
