Last week marked an exciting, first-at-Children's milestone: the launch of Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy (LITT) — a minimally invasive approach for treatment of epilepsy and brain tumors in children. LITT is an innovative, contemporary technology that uses a small probe to direct a laser to treat tumors or seizure locations that are challenging to reach with conventional surgical intervention. The real-time MRI and computer-controlled procedure allows our Neurosurgery team to target lesional tissue with greater precision, meaning a much easier and quicker recovery for children.
