We’re continuing to share patients’ stories in honor of National Cancer Survivors Day (June 1). This is the inspiring story of esophageal cancer survivor Kimberly Wilson. In April 2022, Kimberly was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer. She turned to the expert oncology team at MedStar Georgetown Cancer Institute at MedStar Health Bel Air Medical Campus and MedStar Georgetown Cancer Institute at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center. Her journey included multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation, and immunotherapy. Today, Kimberly’s scans show no evidence of disease. She proudly calls herself a thriver—embracing time with family, travel, and the things that matter most. She's also a fierce advocate, using her voice to raise awareness and drive research for esophageal cancer. “A cancer diagnosis teaches you how much strength you have.” Kim, thank you for your courage, advocacy, and inspiration.
