We’re proud to continue sharing stories in honor of National Cancer Survivors Day (June 1). This one comes from one of our younger patients, Shannon Swickard.
At just 29, Shannon, an active pediatric physician assistant, was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. With expert surgical care at MedStar Georgetown Cancer Institute at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, she opted for a double mastectomy and avoided radiation and chemo. Now, she’s back to running, practicing yoga, and embracing life.
“I was treated as a teammate in my care—and that made all the difference.”
Join as we celebrate incredible survivors like Shannon, whose strength, resilience, and optimism inspire us all. To read her full story, please visit the link in our bio.
