In honor of National Cancer Survivors Day (June 1), we’re continuing the celebration throughout the month, sharing stories of hope and encouragement from some of our patients. Meet Mark Walters from Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. After being diagnosed with prostate cancer in April 2023, Mark chose to travel over two hours to the MedStar Georgetown Cancer Institute at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center—because he knew he wanted the best. “Even though it was a two-and-a-half-hour drive, it was worth it because MedStar has a great reputation for CyberKnife. I am free of cancer. I feel grateful and thankful that I have good health now and that I can enjoy my new granddaughter.” Today, we celebrate Mark’s strength, his recovery, and the joy of new beginnings.
