Get involved with Black History Month at the UK Libraries! ๐Ÿ™Œ Join us to hear guest speaker Sharyn Mitchell from Berea College share her experience growing up in Central Kentucky during the Civil Rights Movement. Sponsored by UK Libraries, the UK Appalachian Center and the Commonwealth Institute for Black Studies, Mitchell, former Research Services Specialist in the Special Collections and Archives department at Berea College will present, โ€œWe, Too, Were Here!โ€ exploring the often-hidden contributions of African Americans to Kentucky history. Sharyn Mitchell attended school during the integration of schools in the region, including the Foundation School in Berea, the high school division of Berea College. She attended the 1964 March on Frankfort with her fellow students.
