Current and former Urbandale teachers and administrators could face consequences on their education licenses for claims of failing to protect a student from bullying and sexual assault.
A jury in November 2024 found the Urbandale Community School District at fault for failing to protect a female middle school student from a male student who allegedly circulated nude pictures of her, harassed and bullied her with other peers, and sexually assaulted her.
The jury did not find the district liable for any damages — meaning, the district did not have to pay a settlement in the lawsuit — but four current or former Urbandale school employees now face potential consequences from the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners that could include loss of licenses because of alleged actions or inactions related to the case.
