Boston Marathon Race Recap, Part 7:
We went through the first 10 miles together in 53:04, (2:19:08 pace) almost a minute faster than the Boston Marathon Record.
Let me tell you, it definitely felt like it.
My coach and I always try to practice :
“run the second half like you didn’t even run the first.”
In other words, get to halfway feeling fresh and then really kick things into gear the last 13 miles.
Well, after 10 miles I honestly felt like I was redlining. The pace felt uncomfortable and every step effortful.
It was taking everything in me to maintain contact with jesstonn and sarahall3
💭Don’t let go. Just ride this storm, Emma.
💭Just think about how much harder the rest of the race will be if you lose both Sara and Jess.
💭Use them, work with them.
I was telling myself anything and everything to keep my composure. To be in the race I was in with these two. I was able to keep right on them when I heard the most beautiful voices.
