In the last 3 years, my family and I have picked out over 1,500 balloons from the Pacific Ocean in Southern California. We’re just one boat that goes out ~ once a week.
💨Balloons filled with helium ⋮ a finite resource ⋮ travel hundreds to thousands of miles & land as litter on beaches, rivers, lakes, oceans, forests & other natural areas - putting wildlife in danger.
🐋Balloons are ingested by whales, dolphins, turtles, seals, fish & waterfowl who innocently believe they are food, like jellyfish or squid. Balloons and their strings cause entanglements, choking, blockage of intestinal track and … death.
