It’s come to my attention that some of you will be coming to Bali & Thailand during these festival and has no idea! 🚨 These are two of my *favourite* festivals in Southeast Asia, so if you’re attending this year or in upcoming years, I have some tips below 🫶🏻 Nyepi is Bali’s annual day of silence, to celebrate the new Saka year (one of the Balinese calendars). It’s a sacred Hindu festival celebrated primarily on the island, so it’s quite a unique experience. The videos I show in the reel are of the Ogoh Ogoh festival the night before - I have no videos of Nyepi as you don’t really do much 🤭 You’re expected to remain indoors for 24 hours (from 6am - 6am), not make noise, don’t have lights on, or music playing. If you don’t want to take part, you can go to the Gili’s which are part of Lombok and Muslim islands so they don’t celebrate Nyepi.
