Day two on the islands - a little trip around Gili Asahan, Gili Layar, Gili Gede, and Gili Rengit 🛥️ Guys the amount of plastic in the water was so upsetting. I started picking it out of the water at the start, but by the third stop we gave up and stopped trying to snorkel because there was so much plastic, old shoes, and debris in the water. The seas around Bali are where I’ve seen the worst plastic pollution, and its worse around this time of year - when monsoon season is kicking off. If you’re travelling here’s a little reminder to be more mindful of your plastic use, because it’s likely not going to be recycled but may end up being burned or in the sea. I know it’s hard in SEA, and there’s not always a choice - but where there is, we can make the right ones. There’s more and more eco friendly hotels and resorts to be found on these islands - where we’re staying right now at giliasahanecolodge we haven’t seen any plastic used at the resort yet.
