Though the result on the pitch may not have reflected it, the Vancouver Whitecaps achieved something special in Mexico City last night. Cruz Azul were more than worthy winners of this year’s CONCACAF Champions Cup. But for the over 800 Whitecaps fans who made the 4000-kilometre journey from BC to CDMX and thousands watching back at home, their team has restored a feeling of spirit and community.
